EXIGENT ANNOUNCES THE SUCCESSFUL REEXAMINATION OF ITS U.S. PATENT NO. 6,651,885

Exigent announced today that the U.S. Patent Office has completed its exhaustive re-examination of its U.S. Patent No. 6,651,885, for Multi-Function Transaction Processing Systems. The '885 Patent was originally issued on November 25, 2003.

    MIAMI, FL, November 21, 2008 /Telecommunications PR News/ -- Exigent announced today that the U.S. Patent Office has completed its exhaustive re-examination of its U.S. Patent No. 6,651,885, for Multi-Function Transaction Processing Systems. The '885 Patent was originally issued on November 25, 2003.

According to Mike Acton, Exigent's Chief Operating Officer, "The Ex Parte Reexamination Certificate issued from the USPTO on August 19, 2008, cited more than 70 U.S. patents dating back to 1982, 22 foreign patents and a huge volume of litigation documents and arguments made by various defendants in infringement actions." "After reexamination, the '885 Patent now stands as a solid and enforceable patent, strengthened by the PTO's consideration of this prior art, " Acton said. "At this point, Exigent is re-evaluating the current systems within the electronic POSA environment in order to assess potential infringements of our patent in the marketplace."
