2009 Dawns as the "Year of the Mobile"

Increasing number of agencies opt for mobile internet sites and Australian company MIA sets out on New York trade mission to introduce its mobile platform technology

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, January 29, 2009 /Telecommunications PR News/ -- 2009 Dawns as the "Year of the Mobile"
Increasing number of agencies opt for mobile internet sites and Australian company MIA sets out on New York trade mission to introduce its mobile platform technology

Mobile internet is set to take centre stage in Australia during 2009 according to MIA CEO Richard Mergler, with advertising agencies and big brands already making moves to leverage the medium more efficiently. Mergler made the claim as he announced six new clients for MIA's Quicksites platform. Publicis, Myne, Ogilivy and PHD in Australia, Ad IQ (UK) and TMG (Holland) have all recently signed deals with MIA to deploy Quicksites to enable them to build sophisticated mobile internet solutions in-house.

According to Mr Mergler, late 2008 also showed a significant spike in the demand for content from carriers, a trend which he expects will continue strongly through this year.
"There's no doubt that mobile internet has been quietly growing in the background, but we believe the market and industry has now reached an axis point and 2009 will be a huge year for mobile" said Mr Mergler. "Newer high end handset penetration combined with higher network speeds and lowering data rates means more people are able to access mobile services such as content, and are able to browse sites quickly and cheaply.

"The downturn in the global economy will accelerate this shift away from traditional media, and the mobile provides a unique and cost effective way to talk to consumers so we expect to see more companies building mobile sites and marketing their products and services via the mobile phone this year," said Mr Mergler.

Already well established in Australia and through UK and Europe, MIA is set to tackle the US market in 2009, starting with its participation in the New York Digital Media Mission organised by Austrade with AIMIA. The Mission, which will take place in March, will offer MIA the opportunity to introduce its technologies to New York's major advertising and interactive media companies as well as other organisations involved in selling technology to the media and advertising industries.

MIA offers two core products: QuickSites enables organisations or agencies to build mobile sites and market their products and services via the mobile phone; and AdFactory which is a mobile campaign management and adserving solution.

MIA's QuickSites was launched in October 2008 and is built upon proven technology using MIA's Media Village Platform that has seen the successful design and deployment of over 1100 services, many for large mobile carriers across the globe - delivering in excess of 2.5 million mobile assets per month. QuickSites enable anyone to quickly design and develop mobile sites using simple tools to deliver sophisticated functionality from existing design, creative and copy from traditional and online marketing.
