youserbase: The first international wiki for consumer electronics has launched
Youserbase launches the first international wiki for consumer electronics from Oldenburg, Germany. youserbase.org will make sharing knowledge of technology easy, allow users to compare and rate devices in 25 languages.
OLDENBURG, GERMANY, August 07, 2009 /Telecommunications PR News/ -- Although the internet gives access to worldwide information, millions of people are excluded: The information is there, but not in their language. Also, manufacturers usually do not want their products to be compared with others. Millions of internet users from more than 40 countries can now share their knowledge, review, comment and compare devices for free - in their own language.
Youserbase, the first international platform for consumer electronics, now features more than 2000 mobile phones on www.youserbase.org, and the information is increasing every day. At the same time, they can choose between 25 languages, including Arabic and Latin. According to Hendrik Hartz, CEO of youserbase, this allows millions of people to be informed in their native language
„It does not make sense to force the world to learn English or German so they can make an objective choice," Hartz said."So giving them access to the same information in their own language is the obvious step. That is why we have created a „strict wiki", that automatically translates and edits the database into other languages."
The Wikipedia has already proven that people wish to share their knowledge in one place. The German startup now also makes this information comparable on an international level. In the Beta phase, the website was accessed from more than 80 countries. "This shows the huge demand for neutral information in local languages," Hartz assures. But he states that a phone database is just the beginning: "There are plenty more competing technologies, and we are prepared to give people the overview about them. Transparency is the only way to ensure there are competitive products."

youserbase has been founded by four university students from Germany who were unsatisfied about the current way information is being distributed. We have been working on this idea fulltime since the summer of 2008. Since then we have found many great supporters in different countries that push the idea forwards.
